Recent effluence of marine borers in the Hudson River has triggered deterioration of the timber bulkhead along the waterfront in Battery Park City located at the southern tip of Manhattan. As a subconsultant, YU & Associates (YU) provided technical assitance in the design of a jet-grouted wall behind the existing deteriorating timber bulkhead. YU performed a subsurface investigtion near the existing bulkhead in the South Cove area to assess the presence of voids and to determine permeability parameters for jet-grouting . YU also provided support in the preparation of construction documents for jet-grouting including design drawings and specifications for work under stringent site conditions.
