Bronxchester URA 1A

YU & Associates, Inc. (YU) was retained by URS Corporation to provide services in support of a site characterization at the Bronxchester Urban Renewal Area (URA) Site 1A. The purpose of the geophysical investigation was to identify the presence of possible Underground Storage Tanks (USTs) at a former filling station and the presence of foundation remnants. YU retained a geophysical survey specialist and coordinated with the client to meet their investigation schedule. YU reviewed the geophysical survey report prior to submission.

YU retained an excavation contractor to provide test trenching services in accordance with the requirements specified in the Remedial Investigation Work Plan (RIWP). YU resolved the issues in relation to utility mark outs conflicts in the area and obtained mark out confirmations for the client before proceeding with site activities. The excavated soil was placed on plastic liners to avoid cross-contamination of the surface soils. The equipment was decontaminated and wastes were collected in 55-gallon steel drums for disposal. Soil samples were collected from the test trenches for laboratory analysis.
