Gran Kreigel Associates, completed asbestos and hazardous materials investigation, reporting, abatement design, and abatement oversight at CUNY City College, Marshak Science Building to facilitate renovations on the 7th Floor. YU performed a limited pre-renovation asbestos containing materials (ACM), lead-based-paint (LBP) and other hazardous materials investigation in room 704 and 704a.
The investigation was performed in accordance with USEPA, AHERA, NYS DOH, and NYC DEP regulations. A report is provided summarizing the results of the investigation. Based on report findings, design plans, specifications and cost estimate were developed by YU for abatement work associated with renovation activities.
YU oversaw the abatement contractor and conducted Project Monitoring and Air Sampling within rooms 704 and 704a to ensure all abatement activities were conducted in accordance with Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and NYS Department of Labor (DOL) regulations. YU’s Project Monitor oversaw the daily abatement work conducted by the abatement contractor and ensured compliance with regulatory and contractual specifications. Air monitoring in and around the asbestos removal work area was conducted to determine the effectiveness of the engineering controls. Background, preparation, during, and final air clearance sample collection and visual inspections at the completion of asbestos removal were conducted to document compliance with specification standards, and regulatory protocols.
