Dr. William H. Horton E.S.

YU & Associates, Inc. (YU) on behalf of New Jersey School Construction Corporation, Medina Consultants, and the Hillier Group, performed hazardous materials inspection and environmental investigations related to the proposed new Dr. W.H. Horton School.

YU performed a visual survey to identify potentially-PCB bearing electrical equipment and mercury-bearing thermostats and lamps.

YU also inspected the school for the potential presence of Radon in the basement/ground floor occupied spaces. An abatement design was developed based on the results of the investigation. Technical Specifications were prepared and submitted to address the removal of asbestos-containing materials, LBP Management and removal/disposal of any PCB or mercury containing equipment.

YU reviewed historical information and performed site visits to evaluate potential environmental areas of concern in accordance with N.J.A.C. 7:26E. Based upon the areas of concern identified, YU performed a Site Investigation. A site specific Health and Safety Plan was prepared to protect the onsite personnel during intrusive activities. Site investigation activities included performance of a geophysical survey to determine potential buried metal debris and underground storage tanks; evaluation of subsurface soil conditions through test pits and soil borings; collection and analyses of samples through laboratory testing; and reporting.
