Metro North – Beacon Station Parking Expansion

YU & Associates, performed environmental due diligence investigations of two properties proposed for acquisition by Metro North as part of a parking facility capital expansion project. An Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) was performed in accordance with ASTM Standard E1527 for each of the two parcels. The facilities consisted of a hat manufacturing plant and an auto body repair shop. The ESAs included site and surrounding property reconnaissance, property owner interviews, collection of information from local (City of Beacon) and state agencies (NYSDEC Region III), and review of regulatory activity for the site. These ESAs evaluated the potential concerns and determined the recognized environmental conditions (RECs) on the properties.

The Phase II investigation involved conducting Geoprobe borings, based upon the Recognized Environmental Conditions (RECs) identified at the site, and collection and analysis of soil and groundwater samples. The analytical data was compared with regulatory standards and evaluated. Recommendations were made with regard to environmental considerations and regulatory compliance.
