MSU Lot 22 Parking Garage

Encompassing 200 acres, Montclair State University (MSU) is New Jersey’s largest teaching university and the second largest educational institution in the state. Due to a burgeoning student population and ever expanding campus facilities, MSU has worked on numerous projects over the years related to overall parking management. As part of this endeavor MSU has embarked on a new project to construct a 2,000 car parking garage on Campus. YU & Associates, Inc. (YU) provided site/civil, traffic, geotechnical and environmental engineering services for this project.

YU performed a Sitting Analysis to determine the optimum location for the garage on campus based on civil, geotechnical, traffic and cost criteria. A field subsurface exploration and a geotechnical engineering evaluation were performed to evaluate foundation systems and develop design recommendations. YU’s scope of work also included a Phase 1 Environmental Assessment, traffic study, Environmental Assessment for Executive Order 215 compliance and topographic survey in addition to preparation of final construction documents. The site design included site layout, utility design, storm water management, design of access roadways to the new garage and all necessary regulatory permitting.
