Newark Public Schools

Newark Public Schools (NPS) retained the services of YU & Associates (YU) to provide assistance in complying with UST regulations. YU reviewed prior UST closure reports, surveyed school sites and updated the UST facility questionnaires, negotiated with NJDEP for closure of USTs still in service that was out of compliance with N.J.A.C. 7:14B, and helped NPS avoid severe penalties.

YU prepared technical specifications to close ten UST systems that were out of compliance and provided contract administration services. A site specific Health and Safety Plan was prepared to protect the onsite personnel for each of the sites. Provided construction oversight during UST closures activities in accordance with N.J.A.C. 7:26E. Our subsurface evaluator examined excavated soil, identified impacted material, delineated soil contamination and guided in the remediation of impacted soil according to the Technical Requirements for Site Remediation NJAC 7:26 E.
