Railroad TSD Facility

With the increasing demand for disposal of construction debris, a transfer station to transport the material using railroad cars is proposed along an existing rail track adjacent to Railroad Avenue in Paterson, New Jersey within the right of way of NJ Transit.

YU & Associates, Inc. (YU) performed a Phase 1 Environmental Site Assessment and performed a site investigation adhering to the NJDEP Technical Requirements for Site Remediation (N.J.A.C. 7:26 E). The soil samples exhibited contaminants exceeding NJDEP’s most stringent soil cleanup criteria. YU performed waste classification analysis to evaluate the possibility of reusing the excavated soil.

YU also performed a geotechnical investigation and provided recommendations for building foundations, design parameters for the construction of retaining walls, holding vault and procedures for placement of backfill material.
