Rutgers Business School, Rutgers University

In order to better serve the students, Rutgers University acquired the majority of the One Washington Park office building in Newark to house the Rutgers Business School and various offices The relocation of the Rutgers Business School to this new location involved the construction of a state of the art 14,700 SF pavilion to provide appropiate instructional space. YU & Associates, Inc. (YU) was retained to perform Site Engineering, Geotechnical Investigation Study and obtain the necessary Regulatory Approvals for the project. The site design involved coordination of utilities, design of a new plaza and new cirulation from the existing University parking. Site design was complicated by the proximity of a recently constructed light rail service The need to match the existing first floor elevation while removing the existing sunken plaza to mmake way for the addition also posed chanleges for YU to solve. YU performed subsurface investigation, prepared site plans, construction documents, engineer’s cost estimates, and assisted the owner in the bid process. During construction, YU performed construction administration servives and provide geotechnical support.
