UMDNJ – Robert Wood Johnson School of Public Health

The University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey School of Public Health is a nationally recognized multi-campus school dedicated to improving the health of communities throughout New Jersey. In order to serve its growing enrollment, the school proposed to expand the facilities at the Piscataway campus with new laboratory and research space. A three-story, 30,000 sf building with a basement vivarium was constructed on the Piscataway campus. YU & Associates, Inc. (YU) was responsible for the site engineering and regulatory approvals. The existing sloping terrain presented design challenges which involved extensive grading to accommodate the site restrictions. The utility design involved numerous crossings underneath an existing above-ground enclosed walkway. Other site improvements include a loading dock, two retaining walls, new sidewalk and connections to the existing plaza.
